Hawaii, ummm, HELL YEAH!

I was covering the 2006 US Freestyle Skiing Championships for Killington, the host resort, when I came across some old friends I knew from my ski-bumming days. Turns out they were getting married the following April. Now get this, in Hawaii! "How would you like to come to Hawaii and shoot our wedding?" they asked. As I stood there in cold ski boots and soggy gloves I took a moment to think about it...Hawaii...next April...hmmm...HELL YEAH!!! This past April, I packed up my gear, picked up my assistant (my girlfriend, no way she was letting me go to Hawaii without her), and we drove to Logan to catch our flight. A couple of plane changes and a few vodka's later we touched down in Kauai a little groggy but excited.

After a day of tropical relaxation, it was time to get to work. Monday night rehearsal luau. After a great dinner, a traditional luau dancer entertained.

After a morning on the beach and a quick swim, it was time to really get down to business. You could feel the energy around the resort as everybody hurried to catch a shower and get dressed. The wedding was being held down the road at a beautiful beach front home with amazing views of Tunnels Beach.

The following images are from the wedding of Guy & Jody Keefe, April 17th, 2007.

A beach wedding with amazing views.

Alone time on the beach.

After the sunset, the party really kicked up. The band had to be one of the best I had ever seen play a wedding. They had flown in that morning from Honolulu and man could they play a mean Johny Cash.

Jody, the bride, even decided to stage dive...good times!!

After countless tropical drinks, a few warm martini's (that's a story for another time), a bunch of cigars, and a pair of sunburned legs, it was time to call it a vacation and head back to Vermont. Mahalo.
